How Does Investing in Private Credit Work?

Private credit refers to loans provided by non-bank financial entities such as managed investment funds and alternative asset managers. In the case of Active Property Group's pooled mortgage fund, PMAC Trust, money from multiple investors are pooled together in an actively managed fund which is then lent out to SMEs.

There are around 30 loans in APG's loan portfolio at any given time, all of which are secured by Australian property. All the due diligence, sourcing of borrowers and managing of the loan portfolio are all done by APG's experienced fund management team.

Investors, on the other hand, make money through the interest paid on the loans in the form of regular distributions. This makes private credit investment via APG's pooled mortgage fund a true, set-and-forget passive investment.
